About this Position
The Application Engineer for Metal Packaging is responsible for driving technical strategy, innovation, and application excellence in the India market. The role partners closely with global/regional teams and local commercial teams to deploy best practices, support customer growth initiatives, execute technical roadmaps, and deliver value-driven solutions. This position acts as a technical expert for key customers, leads application development programs, and identifies new opportunities through market and customer insights.
What you´ll do
- Drive technical innovation and best practices from global and regional teams into the India metal packaging segment.
- Develop and implement technical programs to expand the customer base, enhance application range, and increase market share.
- Collaborate with GKAMs, account managers, and sales engineers to execute customer roadmaps and support pricing decisions with technical inputs.
- Lead customer visits, trials, line audits, troubleshooting, and technical training sessions.
- Conduct manufacturing excellence surveys to identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities.
- Engage with key customers to identify new applications and document the value of delivered solutions.
- Track and report performance of global key initiatives and ensure best practices are shared across regions.
- Contribute to the innovation roadmap and support deployment of breakthrough technologies.
- Develop and manage innovation and application development programs independently.
- Analyze market trends to identify emerging customer needs and growth opportunities.
- Represent the company as a technical expert in the metal packaging industry and build external networks with research bodies, suppliers, OEMs, and industry associations.
What makes you a good fit
- Minimum 8 years of work experience
- Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering or Science (Chemistry is a plus). Master in Business Administration, Marketing/ Operations will be an added advantage.
- Technical Customer Service of Metal Packaging is a plus.
- On Lubrication, Cleaning, Pickling, Surface Treatment of light metals will be an advantage.
- Metal and Rigid Packaging, Food/ Beverage and general packaging Industry.
- Familiarity with surface treatment chemicals will be advantageous.
